「菩萨畏因，众生畏果」英文怎么说？
为什么说菩萨会怕「因」，而众生却怕「果」呢?
相信很多学佛人都听过一句话叫做 「菩萨畏因, 众生畏果」, 这是什么意思呢?
因为菩萨怕因，因为菩萨做一件事情之前，他已经知道后果了，所以他就不敢种这个因。众生呢，先做了再说，等恶果来了就开始后悔。
那么，英文要怎么表达呢?
我们先来看「因果」怎么说，因果常用的说法包括:
Cause and effect (中文表面意思: 原因 和 效果)
Cause and result (中文表面意思: 原因 和 结果)
Cause and consequences (中文表面意思: 原因 和 后果)

“菩萨畏因, 众生畏果”，敬畏因果的人可以让社会充满和谐与宽容。
Bodhisattvas fear causes, whereas sentient beings fear consequences.
Those who treat the law of karma with respect and awe will bring harmony and tolerance to our society.

千金难买早知道，万金难买后悔药，学佛人要接受现实，从别人身上看到自己的缺点和不足，知因懂果，要学菩萨畏因，不学众生畏果。
It is no use speaking with hindsight or feeling regret. We Buddhist practitioners must come to terms with reality and discover our own flaws and shortcomings by reflecting on those of others;

所以「菩萨畏因，众生畏果」。菩萨做任何一件事情总是考虑到后果，「这件事情不能做，做了之后会不会有果？」菩萨是畏因的。
众生呢？「有利益了，这件事情赶快做，先去做吧。」做了之后果来了，「怎么办呢？哎呀……」菩萨畏因，众生畏果，所以众生就是没有智慧。
Bodhisattvas fear causes while sentient beings fear consequences.
When Bodhisattvas are about to do anything, they will always think of the consequences in advance. Bodhisattvas fear creating causes — “We must not do this because it might result in bad consequences.”
What about sentient beings?
When they stand to benefit from something, they will recklessly take actions without thinking of the consequences. Once they suffer the consequences, they have little idea about what to do.
Thus, Bodhisattvas fear causes while sentient beings fear consequences. That’s why sentient beings lack wisdom.
